Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Mildred ("Millie") Anne Anderson Ashby, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2010 in Utah Valley Hospital from a sudden stroke. She was born July 29, 1937 in Oakland, California, to Joseph Harold Anderson and Gladys Millie Mumford. She married her sweetheart, Gary Ashby, on June 20, 1958 in the Salt Lake City Temple. She attended the University of California, Berkeley and Southern Oregon State University with a degree in General Studies with emphasis in mathematics, cum laud. Millie worked as an accountant for several years at the Provo Surgical Center. She was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she led a dedicated life of service to the church that she loved so much, including serving as a Relief Society president three different times. Millie is known for her strong patriotism and loved to serve in her community. Her service included president of the State Republican Women, president of the Utah County Republican Women, member of the Utah Republican State Executive Committee and member of the Utah Republican State Central Committee. Millie also served as the chairperson of events for the 4th of July Freedom Festival, chairperson of the Women's Division of the Chamber of Commerce, board member of the Chamber of Commerce, president of the Orem Women's Club, board member of the Women's Legislative Council and numerous other civic organizations and projects. She loved cooking and crafts and was frequently seen crocheting in public. She was well-known for her parties. Millie is survived by her spouse, Gary; seven children and spouses; 21 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two more on the way; one brother; and two sisters-in-law. She was preceded by one brother and her parents. Her memorial service will be held on Monday, October 11, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Stonewood Stake Center located at 450 South 100 West, Orem, Utah. Viewings will be held on Sunday evening, October 10, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Sundberg Olpin Mortuary located at 495 South State Street, Orem, Utah and on Monday morning, October, 11, 2010 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the LDS Stonewood Stake Center prior to the services.
