1910 ~ 2004
Farrell Dean Miner died in Orem, Utah on January 28, 2004.
He was born in Springville, Utah on September 30, 1910, the youngest of five children born to Melvin Orson and Mary Young Miner.
Not long after Dean was born, the family moved to a farm in Vineyard.
His dad was killed hauling sugar beets to market when Dean was only 10. At that time Dean began a farming career that would last more than 80 years. As he grew up, he took over more and more of the farming for planting corn as late as 1960. Urban sprawl led to the sale of the dairy cows in 1986, but Dean switched to raising beef cattle and then sheep as he aged.
He was a devoted member of the LDS Church. He appreciated the gospel lessons that were so well illustrated by raising crops and animals. His life bore testimony to his acceptance of those principles.
He is survived by his wife and six children, Gelene (Robert) Taylor of Provo; DeLores (Richard) Edwards of Orem; George Miner of El Cajon, CA; F. Dean (Vivian) Miner Jr. of Orem; Nile (Beverly) Miner of Orem; Ned (Janet) Miner of Lakeshore; 25 grandchildren, 24 great-grand-children and one great-great-grandchild.
The family extends their appreciation to the staff of the Golden Living Center for their thoughtful and tender care.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, at 11 a.m. in the Vineyard Ward Chapel, 800 South Geneva Road in Orem. Friends and family may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 S. State St. in Orem and also Tues. one hour prior to the services at the ward chapel. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
