Note
The Rev John Townson had only one daughter, Mary Agnes Croft Townson, who died unmarried on the 8th December 1926. At the time of her death, she was living at the Convent of Our Lady at Filsham Park Road, St Leonards on Sea, Sussex. Her Will is interesting in that it gives a lot of information on the family:- Major George Harrison Townson, the Rev Frederick Cowper Townson and Edward Moser of Kendal, solicitor, were executors. She left £100 to Marie Larigaldie, daughter of Jules Larigaldie of Millemombe, Paris and £500 to the Convent of our Lady. She left the portrait of her paternal great grandfather, John Wilson, by Romney to John Strover Townson, son of her cousin, Major George Harrison Townson. She left the portrait of King William 111, which belonged to her mother, to Robert Charles Townson, son of her cousin, Rev John Henry Townson. She left her estate or farms called Beckside, Lindeth Brow and Gillbank Spout, in the parish of Underbarrow, to be divided between Wilfrid Curtis, son of her late cousin, Charlotte Elizabeth Curtis; Dorothy, Joyce and Stella Townson, daughters of her cousin, the Rev Robert Walter Townson; Robert Charles and Marjorie Phyllis Townson, children of her cousin, the Rev John Henry Townson; and Faith Mary and John Strover Townson, children of her cousin, Major George Harrison Townson.
