Died from injuries received from being hit by a car.

His father William Henry was a heavy drinker, at least as long as he was married to Alice Harvey. Story told was that he started drinking when he lost his first wife Harriet. He wasn't a very nice man, always drinking. He was rough on his wife Alice and she was a very good wife. She worked herself to pieces for him. He worked in the mornings until noon and went to the pub and drank until 11 p.m. He spent 2/3 of his wage on beer, the rest he bought groceries and clothes for the family. He demanded his roast beef on Sunday. William Bennett (William Henry's father, Williams grandfather) drank with him. Alice and children had very little meat. Sugar was scarce and they used to use syrup. They got just a little over a pint of milk a day for the family. Many times they had beef broth with a slice of bread or ground med (?) oats for breakfast. The big meal was the noon meal. Beef stew but mostly stew made with lamb liver. Night time meal was tea, 2 slices of bread with jam. Alice was a hard working mother and wife and she worked outside of the home to help buy groceries and clothes for the family. She got very little love or credit for what she did, just a drunken husband that cursed and demanded. She died when a car hit her.
