Note	Edmund Chambre Hinde was the son of Walter Alan Hinde and Janet Dunlop. He was born at Beaumont Hall, Lancaster, England on 16 Jun 1851, not the date on his memorial of 1856, or the date on his death certificate of 14 Apr 1855 or the date in his obituary (see reference below) of 16 Jun 1854. At birth he was originally registered as Arthur Henry Hinde but this was later changed to Edmund Chambre. After leaving school, he joined the civil service as an assistant auditor in the Post Office department. In 1886 he emigrated to the USA and took up farming in Minnesota until 1892 when he moved to Sioux Falls. In 1893 he was employed in the county treasurer’s office as a bookkeeper, later becoming deputy treasurer. In 1900 he was living in Minnehaha, South Dakota, and later became the manager of the Hotel Maryland in Minneapolis, where he died in 1912. He was buried at Wood Lawn Cemetery on 27 Feb 1912. In 1896 he married Rose Ruddick. Rose was born in Keokuk, Iowa in about 1867 and died on 8 Feb 1941 in Chicago. No children have been identified.
