Note
|
"A wasp sting in the throat, received when he was drinking a glass of beer, caused the death of John Elleray Crosthwaite, aged 53, a County Council roadman, of Bateman Fold Crook, near Kendal. Crosthwaite was found dead in bed by his wife, and it was stated at the inquest at Crook that a post-mortem showed that death was due to asphyxia consequent upon the sting. A barman at the Wild Boar Hotel, Crook, said that Crosthwaite told him that he had a wasp in his bed and that he spat it out on to the floor. It was impossible for the wasp to have come from the barrel. The coroner returned a verdict in accordance with the medical evidence. |
