Headstone reads : " Sacred to the Memory of John Henry Swinhoe Esq. late officiating solicitor to the H.E.I. Company at Calcutta, born on the 3rd February 1794, died on the 13th October 1837. He was a generous and an honest man, and has left many who well knew his worth to deplore his early death. This pillar is eracted by his afflicted brother, T.B. Swinhoe."
