Birth: 1922 Laura G. James of Southold died Aug. 6 at The Shores at Peconic Landing in Greenport. She was 91 years old. She was born in Connecticut Jan. 29, 1922, to Jesse and Nellie Heidtmann and married Thomas James on June 10, 1944. She was most recently employed as a secretary with the Baldwin Public School District. Ms. James was a longtime member of North Fork Country Club, and family members said she enjoyed playing golf and bridge. Predeceased by her husband in 2012, she is survived by her son, Thomas, of Connecticut; her daughter, Judy Welter of Stony Brook; her sister, Patricia Fountain of Oklahoma; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Private burial arrangements were handled by McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. Family and friends will gather at a later date.
