He described the scene as, "a splendid sight! All the electric lights are lighted,, and it is a picture never to be forgotten for miles up either side of the coast. It is nothing else, but a mass of lights, all colours. In 1901 in Crosthwaite, England, married Mary Ann "Mayme" Pearson daughter of Thomas Pearson and Margaret Harker.
