Note

William Pearson, a Yeoman was born at Low Yews October 11, 1780. He attended school at Crosthwaite and then at Underbarrow. His first occupation was teaching the humble school of Winster. He then served as a tutor for two years.
Next he spent a year in Kendal working for Simpson and Harrison, Grocer in London for three months but his health failed and forced him to return to the Yews.
After regaining his health, on March 16, 1803, he went to work as a clerk in the bank of Jones, Fox & Co. in Manchester. He remained seventeens years.
In 1822 he returned home and purchased Borderside, in the township of Crosthwaite.
On May 5, 1842 William married Ann Greenhow at Bowness Church.
At the age of sixty-seven he took the momentous step of deciding to build a new house at Borderside. On July 31, 1848, they moved in.
William died in 1856 and his widow, Ann, published the "Papers Letters and Journals of William Pearson".
William Pearson was buried on Dec 19, 1856 in St Mary's Churchyard Cemetery, Crosthwaite, Westmorland, England.
