On 11th February 1875, Mark Massey filed a petition for divorce on the grounds of Mary's adultery with William Trueman. On 27th May The Right Honorable Sir James Hannen Knight, Judge of her Majesty's Court, sitting in open couty at at Westminster heard the petition which was not defended. He pronounced that the Petitioner, Mark Massey had sufficiently proved the conents of the Petition On the 14th December 1875 the marriage was dissolved on the grounds of Mary's adultery. The divorce was made absolute 6 months later.
