Note
I received the certificate of the wedding of Richard Taylor and Elizabeth Hair nee Retchless in 1869. I have attached the file for you so you will see that the marriage took place in Ely Wesleyan Chapel which is the same place she married Robert Skipper Bellam in 1855. A Robert Bellam had move to Lancashire with a younger woman, Mary Alcock, it appears that Elizabeth was a bigamist. I checked divorce records and couldn't find any. Also there is no marriage record for Robert and Mary. Going back to 1832, Elizabeth married Charles Hare in Wisbech. She the appears to have had a liason with William Sammons and so Samuel Sammons Retchless was born. He is called Samuel Bellam in 1841 and Samuel Hare from 1851 onwards. Charles died in 1835 and soon after that Elizabeth got together with Robert Bellam who he later married in 1855 after having William and Thomas Bellam. Samuel Hare's son William from his second marriage to Kezia Taylor (possibly the niece of Richard Taylor) was with Richard and Elizabeth aged 3. Now I have the certificate, I now know that he was the grandson of Elizabeth and not Richard. Richard and Elizabeth ended their days in Barnsley Workhouse which was near the homes of Elizabeth's sons William and Samuel. I will enclose the 1881 census details. Elizabeth died in sep1884 and Richard in jun1886 at Barnsley.
