Alexander Felix Lester, understated his age to join the Royal Navy rather than be enlisted to the Army. He served as a naval gunner on HMS ships as well as merchant men on convoy duty to America and Russia. He was assigned to a land position in India as it was feared that the Japanese would invade India, and he spent 12 months there. He was in New York on VE Day and served in NZ, Australia before leaving the RN |
