History told by Soon-Hee Kim Suh Our grandmother, Kim Kam-hee's family had no son but five daughters. OUr grandmother was the oldest of five daughters and her family lived in an area called Kamuraji about 5 miles away from Bak-chun village. Her family also adopted a son whom our father remembered as an uncle. OUr father fondly remembered when his mother's relatives came from the country on the day the village market opened and visited his mother. His mother was a very good cook and she always served them lunches. His mother was also a very diligent farmer or gardener who planted vegetables and many varieties of beans in gardens around the house and even at the edge of rice paddies. Harvest from her gardens were substantial amounts which were well used to supplement her main staples. |
