Note
I suspect that John may have stayed in London when is family returned to Leicestershire between 1881 and 1891. In the 1890's a John Dodds is living in various lodging houses in Whitechapel according to Electoral Registers. There is a record of a John Dodds in the Tower Hamlets Workhouse with Gastralgia between 26feb1904 and 4may1904. His occupation is stated as Messenger and his address was 177 Whitechapel Road which looks to have been a Lodging House. He had been at the same institution from 11mar1903to 23mar1903 with Pleuritis whist living at 41 Commercial Street. His final visit was from 28may1908 to 20jul1908 when he died from Dropsy. |

Note
There is also a possible death of John Dodds in Ayr Workhouse in 1909. The father of this John Dodds is named as Robert Dodds and the mother Ellen Blane (Should be Jane). The name of his wife is not included which suggests a marriage break up so I am now thinking that this is the correct death and that John returned to Scotland sometime after 1901. |
