Note	Occupation 1204-1205 Sheriff of Lancaster, shared with Richard de Vernon (who is erroneously stated as his brother, but was his father); later knighted and became justiciar of Chester after Phillip de Orreby, whose widow he incidentally married as his second wife. Marriage Settlement bef 1206 William de Vernon and Margaret de Stockport granted lands by her father Robert de Stockport who was dead by 1206, so the settlement of their marriage must have taken place before then; she was likely to have been young at the arrangement of marriage. Occupation 1214 • Ireland Justice Occupation 1218 • Lancashire Charged with looking after the county of Lancaster (justiciar) Occupation 1229-1236 Chief Justice of Cheshire; High Sheriff of Lancashire.
