OBIT: WAYNE Whitlow

Wayne B. Whitlos, 85, 738 S. Fourth, a Longtime Pocatello educator, died
at his home Friday.

He was born Nov 16, 1895, at Moran, Kan., to Thomas E. and Mora Moss
Whitlow. He graduated from Moran High School, from Emporia, Kan., Teachers
College with a drgree in education; and from the University of Kansas, USA with
a master's degree in zoology. During World Was I he served in the U. S.
Army. He taught at schools in Wayside and Deleware, Kan.; Little Rock,
Ark.; and Price, Utah. He joined the faculty of Pocatello High School in
1927 as a Biology teacher, retiring in 1963. Until the time of his Death
he had assisted the high school cheerleaders in making the authentic
Indian headresses.

He was a member of Trinity-St. Andrews Episcopal Parish where he sang in
the choir for many years. He was a Past Commander of Pocatello Post No. 4,
American Legion, where he was chairman of the Boys State Committee and
Legion Oratorical Committee for many years; was a past Chef de Guerre of
Voiture 451, 40 et 8; served in many capacities with the Boy Scouts for
many years, holding the Order of the Arrow and Silver Beaver aWards; was a
founder of the Pocatello Field Archery Association; was a member of
KeyStone Lodge No. 81, AF&AM; and was an accomplished taxidermist, with
specimens of his Work in many museums in the country, including the
Smithsonian Institute.

Survivors include two sons, Larry G. Whitlow, Phoenix, Ariz., and Dr.
Dennis R. Whitlow, Sherman Oaks, Calif., three grandChildren and one
great-grandChild; a Brother, Gayle Whitlow, and a sister, Evelyn, both of
Kansas, USA City, Mo.

Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church
with Forrest M. Holmes officiating. Buriel will be in the family plot in
the Mount Moriah section of Mountainview Cemetary with military gravesite
rites conducted by Pocatello Post No. 4, American Legion, David Dowd
commander.
