J. C. Wilkinson Died, in this city at 3:10 a.m. Wednesday, of paralysis,
James C. Wilkinson aged 50 years and two months. His Death occured at the
home of his father-in-law, Col. C.T. Prouty, to which he was Brought as
soon as convalescent from a serious illness in the Indian countyr during
summer. Funeral services will be held today at 2:30 o'clock p.m. The
Masonic fraternity will be present in a body. Interrment at the city
cemetary according to Masonic ceremonial. James C. Wilkinson was born in
Ohio, USA, but came with his Parents to Iowa, USA near Tipton at an early age. In
addition to a regular course of education, he studied civil engineering
which profession he followed many years. He removed to Dighton, Kansas, USA, in
the early 80's where he married Miss Albertie Prouty after which they
lived one year in California, USA, then rerturned to Dighton. At the opening of
old Oklahoma, USA, they came to KingFisher, which has been their home. Mr.
Wilkinson surveyed and platted that portion of town south of Robberts
avenue. Mr. Wilkinson leaves a widow and two daughters, Helen and Hazel,
besides two Brothers and three sisters, two of the latter living in
California, USA and Oregon, USA. One of the Brothers, John W., of Jefferson, Iowa, USA,
and Mrs R.A. Cox of Wichita, were present at the funeral. Mr. Wilkinson
numbered very many friends in Oklahoma, USA and Indian Territory. In the
latter, he spent much of the past five years, part of the time surveying
public lands but for the last two years he has been employed of the Dawes
Commission assisting in allotmnt and valuation of lands.
