Intef successfully defended the territory that Intef II had won and held territory as far as the seventeenth nome of Upper Egypt. He restored a ruined tomb of a deified prince named Hekayeb at Aswan. After a short and peaceful 8 year reign, hewas succeeded by his son Mentuhotep II. Intef III was buried in a saff (row) tomb in el Tarif (near Thebes) next to Intef I and Intef II, and near Deir el-Bahri (the site of Montuhotep II's Mortuary Temple). Intef III's grandson was MentuhotepIII and Intef had a daughter Neferu who married her brother. |
