After he arrived in Australia he left Sydney and went to work in Sofala, Gold mining Town near Bathurst and Mudgee NSW. It seems he dropped off his last name 'Stukebrok or Stockenbrok', before leaving London as it states on his Passenger listing his last name Williams age 29 from Bremen Germany, left Southhampton 13 July 1854, Master: JG Chapman burthen 766, arrived 23 Oct. 1854.
