Note

There's another Burrell family listed in the 1841 Washington Census that could be the Parents and older siblings of Thomas. These are:

Thomas Burrell, 65, Agricultural Labourer (b.1776)
Fanny Burrell, 55, Wife (b.1786)
Frances Burrell, 30 (b.1811)
Ann Burrell, also 30 (b.1811)

There are two other Burrell's listed as living at Church Farm as Female Servants that may also be related. These are:

Jane Burrell, 20, Female Servant (b.1821)
Esther Burrell, 18, Female Servant (b.1823)

An Isaac Burrell b.1777 in Washington served in the 17th Dragoons (Light) from 1798-1823 and may also be related. He died in Lewes.

Note

A Report from the Sussex Weekly Advertiser dated 11th of March 1814:

The Creditors of Mr Thomas Burrell, of Findon Park, are desired by the Assignees of his Estate, to meet at the Gun Inn, in Findon, on Friday, the 25th day of this inst. March, at eleven o'clock in the forenoon, to consider of the measures to be adopted in consequence of Mr John Burrell's having claimed to be a joint partner in the stock of Findon Park Farm.

These gentlemen could be the father and uncle of Thomas but further investigation is required.

Note

A Burrell family listed as living in Golden Square in the 1881 Washington Census may be the widowed wife and family of one of Thomas's sons. They are:

Agnes Burrell, 24, Needlewoman (b.1857)
Elizabeth Mary Burrell, 4, Scholar (b.1877)
Bessie Kate Burrell, 2 (b.1879)
Percy Burrell, 1 (b.1880)

Further investigation required.

Note

The Burrells of Surrey and Sussex descend from a Ralph Burrell, who inherited a considerable estate from his uncle, The Rev. Gerard (Gerardus) Burrell DD, 1420–1508.
