Note

Written on the memorial:

Sacred to the memory of Walter Burrell of West Grinstead Park Esq., member for this county in five successive parliaments, who in the hope of joyful resurrection, through our blessed redeemer, departed this life 07/04/1831 aged 54.

How could my tongue take pleasure, and be lavish in thy praise. How could I speak thy nobleness of nature, thy open, manly heart, thy courage, constancy And whom truth, unknowing to dissemble, thou wast the man in whom my soul delighted in whom next heaven I trusted.

Rowe.

In the same vault repose the remains of Charles Wyndham Burrell Esq., eldest son of Sir Charles Merrik Burrell of Knepp Castle Bt. He was born 01/07/1809 and died 11/07/1827.

Thus fell this amiable and promising youth in the flower of his age.
