Note
|
According to his Death Certificate, Hugh was a Journeyman Dyer and was the son of Hugh Allan, a Shawl Manufacturer and Janet Wark or Mack who was probably from Paisley, Renfrewshire. He may have appeared as a Lodger on the 1841 census in Paisley, Renfrewshire as a Silk Dyer age 20 but as he was born in 1811 he would have had to be lying about his age. Twenty in the 1841 census meant 20 - 24. He died 2 years after the birth of Joseph Allan who does not seem to appear on any census before his marriage in 1878. |
